FAQs
What are head lice and nits?
A lice is a parasitic insect that is found typically on the hair on the head—but not limited to the eyelashes and eyebrows. They feed on human blood. They live and suck on the human scalp. Lice are very small (around the size of a sesame seed) and have six legs. Their stages of life go from nit, nymph, and louse. Nits are eggs that take about one week to hatch into a nymph. And later turn into an adult louse.
Can lice go away on their own?
Lice can not go away on their own, if left untreated the lice will only continue to reproduce and the infestation will only worsen.
How can I know if I have lice?
One of the most obvious indicators that lice are present is if one is itching. In addition, if one sees or feels irritation in the scalp. Red little bumps around the hairline are also an indicator.
I wash my hair all the time, why do I have lice?
Lice is actually not an indicator of uncleanliness. Anyone can get lice. This is because lice spread from head-to-head contact. So it does not matter how often you shower.
Can a pet get head lice?
No, it is impossible for a pet to get head lice because they feed off human blood.
